    What a read! Cynthia writes a story with well written characters that makes you feel as if you know the people and their families personally! The descriptions of the surroundings, even down to the correct foods and clothing make you feel as if you could actually touch things, smell the foods and even see the locations that she writes about. The places she writes about and the people actually existed at the same time and the lingo and technical info are accurate. She makes it so enjoyable as she can carry on the story with all the ups and downs of a classy romance with lots of steamy sexual tension. All in all, she's the best among romance writers!

    This is the first Cynthia Wright book that I have read and I could not put this book down. The main characters had a very intense and passionate relationship. I am a "Lover" of historical romance novels. I am glad that I found a new author. Great read!
  • Not bad but was a little slow

    At first I had a difficult time getting into this book. The history was great, but the characters weren't developed very well, especially in the first half. Transitioning from one point to another was also rough: at one point, the author switched so quickly from year to year it was confusing. However, I stuck with it. The history was almost too involved at parts; don't get me wrong, i love history and the Revolutions (American or French) are my favorite time periods. But, I' d rather see the characters developed within the period rather than having world famous historical names and places being added here and there. Also, more details of these places would be great! I didn't get a real feel of the main character's physical attributes until they got on the ship. The second half was so much better. The dynamic between the two characters became much more exciting, especially with the cat fights between the women. Personally, I like a little more steam to my love scenes, but it wasn't a deal breaker. Overall, I am going to read the author's second one in this series. Her writing seemed to improve throughout this book, so perhaps the next book will be even better.

    I am so glad to finally read a romance novel that had me all giddy. It was beautiful because I am so used to the other authors writing so trashy and they always ruin a perfect story with gross writing or odd situations. This writer stays pretty classy which makes it a better read. Thanks.
